After around 35 hours in transit, including 8 hours in the miserable Colombo airport, we arrived in Germany. Pete, Dan (Crane) and I were upgraded to Business Class for our 6 hour leg from Dubai to Munich, so that made things a little more enjoyable. Especially the free Hennessy XO! Upon waking up this morning in Munich, I had a sore through and runny nose – the unarguable signs of an impending cold, so the next few days should be interesting. Richard on the other hand, woke up and started vomiting, so I shouldn’t really be complaining.
It’s 1:30pm now, we’re at Zum Alten Markt drinking Franziskaner, eating pretzel, and sausage too. I wasn’t up until almost 11am, so I can consider this my breakfast. Perhaps one of the best ever! The owner here makes for fantastic conversation. He asked if we were English, and then followed up suggesting that Australians and English are the same anyway. Andy promptly fired back with “well does that make you Austrian?” For that, we got a free round of apple & peach schanpps, and a free Franziskaner blanket – which the Darwin guys are putting to good use, considering how unfamiliar this 14 degree weather is for them.
Soon, onto lunch. Perhaps some pork knuckle.

Hope you are not having three stopovers on the way home boys!
Where is a picture of Dan?

Hi Dan hope you are behaving yourself and having a good time.
I’m happily living in south-western Germany, while my parents – esp. my mother – have american ancestors. So I believe to be German with some Anglo-Saxon impact. This interesting thoughts about Germany seem to be very pessimistic for my ears; I’d think, American politicians could learn much from how Germany is handling its crisis right now.
Sounds like you need a beer
